DÉVELOPPEMENT DURABLE

More and more festivals are seeking to define new ways of organising events that are more environmentally, economically and socially responsible, and to apply the principles of sustainable development. Fest Jazz is already part of this movement: setting up shuttle buses, waste management, raising awareness among the public, artists, technicians and volunteers about this approach. Everyone's involvement is necessary to ensure that Fest Jazz's environmental impact is as low as possible.

To achieve these objectives, we work closely with the environmental department of the Communauté de Communes, which, in addition to its indispensable logistical support, provides us with technical expertise to help us define priorities and possible areas for improvement (working meetings in advance in the spring and a review meeting after the festival). Our action focuses first and foremost on effective selective waste management. To achieve this, we are putting in place clear signage indicating collection points, which are located as close as possible to catering outlets (snack bars, crêperies, food trucks and bars). We have set up a system for collecting eggshells (used as lime fertiliser for gardens) and cigarette butts (for recycling).

Our efforts also extend to supplies: for food: we favour short supply chains and local products, and for technical products, particularly those related to communication, we strive to limit the amount of paper (brochures, posters, programmes, etc.) by using QR codes.
Shuttle buses have been set up to provide access to the site, and there is also a bicycle park. A volunteer has been appointed to facilitate access to concerts for people with reduced mobility.
The Ty Récup association, whose aim is to raise public awareness of waste reduction, reuse and recycling, will have a stand throughout the festival.

For future editions, we will continue our efforts to inform all those participating in the festival (technicians, artists, food trucks, suppliers, etc.) about our eco-friendly approach. Together with the Communauté de Commune’s environmental department, we will work on setting up a bio-waste system. We will install two drinking water access points to limit plastic containers. Several other projects are also under consideration: replacing some of the conventional toilets with dry toilets, creating a fun area where visitors can recharge their phones by pedaling, an eco-responsible
