Hello everybody !

It’s Fest Jazz time again!

We’re delighted to be able to give you early details of Fest Jazz 2012.  This year it will be on the 27th, 28th and 29th July and as ever it will be a festival more like Woodstock than Glyndebourne!

As usual, it will be at Châteauneuf-du-Faou, the charming village in the heart of the Brittany countryside and once again everyone from five to eighty-five can enjoy the music from four stages running alongside the beautiful River Aulne.

There were more than 2,500 spectators last year, and with this year’s line up the weekend is likely to be even more popular.

The international star of jazz guitar, Stochelo Rosenberg, heads the bill, travelling south from his native Holland. He will be accompanied by a new generation of young Gypsy Jazz musicians from Paris, the six strong Selmer 607 (which afficionados will know as the make of the celebrated guitar of Django Reinhardt).

We’ve always been keen on boogie at Fest Jazz and 2012 is no exception. This time it’s a French group Le Ben Toury Jazz Corporation. Ben Toury’s piano style will leave you breathless!

Holland provides another dynamic young group, the Big Easy Rascals, who will be beating out the best of New Orleans jazz.

And no Fest Jazz would be complete without the trumpet of Malo Mazurié, who exploded on to the Brittany jazz scene at the age of 13 and has played at all seven festivals. And to top it all this international star has agreed to become the festival’s patron.

Festival organiser Trevor Stent explained: “We have asked Malo to accept this position because of his extraordinary talent and because of his commitment to our festival. He has an international reputation, from Japan to New York, and he represents our policy that is at the heart of Fest Jazz ... to encourage young people to enter into the world of jazz”

So there you are, a feast of great jazz, and we can guarantee something for all tastes. How?  Simple! We have 18 groups and more than 80 musicians, and at just 37 euros for the three days Fest Jazz  must be one of the best, if not the best, value for money jazz weekends anywhere.

Tickets for the festival will be on sale from 7th May. All details here
